Birgit Graschopf
Society’s power structures and the way these constructs affect how people relate to public and private spaces is the main focus of Birgit Graschopf’s (b. 1978) work. The images display constructs of reality with people performing commonplace activities. Scenes of our daily life are enhanced in precisely prepared photomontages through repetition and multiplication, becoming somewhat absurd images of a world of human puppets. Birgit Graschopf defines the relationship between the inside and the outside, between private and public, and the fragile balance between the individual and society by means of their permutations.
